‘Singing gives me the feeling of flying high, of being free. And this feeling of freedom is a deep longing that always brings me back to music, to singing.’

Even though she always received credits for her pure voice and musical talent, she had to conquer fears before coming out with her jazz albums. ‘I was so thrilled when Renato D’Aiello asked me to collaborate with him and his jazz colleagues in Italy. We started performing together and recorded the EP ‘Wonderful World’ and the album ‘Joy’, for which both of us wrote a song.’

Before coming to Italy, Zigola was based in The Netherlands where she started studying and performing in jazz. She took lessons at the Conservatory of Amsterdam and with various inspiring teachers, like Lils Mackintosh, Dennis Kivit and Deborah Carter. She worked with a jazz trio of Dutch top musicians and specialized in performing with jazz music - theater shows for children with which she toured in festivals and schools in different countries. She got nominated for the Cinekid International New Media Award for Lila and the Magic Suitcase, an innovative jazz theater performance for children.
